Zlata Chochieva is celebrated as one of the most extraordinary pianists of her generation. She is renowned for her “subtle, refined tonal sensitivity” and powerhouse technique. Her discography on Naïve Records has garnered immense critical acclaim, including a 5-star review from BBC Music Magazine for her recent orchestral album and a Gramophone “Editor’s Choice” for her solo release, Im freien. Notably, her recording of the Chopin Etudes was named one of the 10 greatest Chopin recordings by Gramophone.
Chochieva made her orchestral debut at age seven at the Moscow State Conservatory and recently made her Carnegie Hall debut in the 2025/26 season. She has performed with world-class ensembles including the BBC Scottish Symphony and the Copenhagen Philharmonic under conductors such as Mikhail Pletnev and Tugan Sokhiev. A protégé of Pletnev and Jacques Rouvier, she now serves as Professor of Piano at the Hochschule der Künste Bern. Chochieva is also the Director of the International Festival at Rachmaninov’s estate in Ivanovka and an ambassador for Bärenreiter Verlag.
